Hello I’m

HELEN

I’m a freelance illustrator and designer, with a strong need to create, and make art that feels good.

As an illustrator I work in Illustrator, Photoshop and Procreate, and complimentary to the digital projects, I work with fabric and yarn to create products with the punch needle technique. I love the tactile results, and the opportunity to combine my illustration background with the meditative crafts of punch needle.

In addition to working with clients and my own projects, I work as a teacher in the subjects Graphic Design and Media Society at Gjøvik High School. I enjoy hanging out with the teenagers, and conveying my enthusiasm for creative projects to them.

My background

When I was younger I travelled the world with my backpack, camera and sketchbook. I lived and skied in the french alps, studied and surfed in Australia, and did alle of the above while living in San Francisco. I loved meeting new cultures, and making new friends, while going on skiing, hiking and surfing adventures.

Now I have settled down in a little town in Norway called Gjøvik. Here I value my family life, with husband and three kids. I still ski and hike, but I’m also enjoying yoga and quit moments. I’m seeking the simple things in life; being with the people I love, doing the things I love.

Formally I have an MFA in Computer Arts from Academy of Art in San Francisco, and a BC in Graphic Design and Photography from Edith Cowan University in Perth.
